Lower Blood Pressure With Exercise

The study was published in October 2010 in the Journal of strength and conditioning research evaluated the impact of resistance training versus aerobic training in the arterial circulation.

It has been speculated that changes in arterial compliance (the elasticity of blood vessels) may be related to the exercise-induced vasodilator capacity difference, the ability of blood vessels to dilate.

Study

The purpose of this study was to examine recent vasodilation and arterial distensibility (AD) responses to acute exercise and aerobic endurance.

The study included 10 healthy men with an average age of 25. blood flow during forearm reactive hyperemia was assessed before and after 60 minutes of exercise.

Aortic and speed of the femoral pulse wave was also measured to assess arterial stiffness pre-workout, 40 minutes and 60 minutes after acute aerobic exercise (30 minutes by bike) and resistance (3 sets of 10 repetitions for upper and lower).
